At the TVA the most popular and difficult question to answer is "Where can I get decent non-leather shoes?". Other than ordering them on-line from the UK, we have no idea. I was volunteering at the Yoga Show last week and Earth Shoescame to my attention. They are from the states, but we are trying to get them at the next food fair. They seem high quality and designed for good posture.
Personally I have 1 pair of shoes, they are skateboarding shoes and they last me at least 2 years because they are built pretty tough. If I was going through 4 pairs of Payless shoes a year I'd probably think more about the pros and cons of synthetic materials.
